Kidlet's MRI came out normal. This rules out the scary stuff for now. We're still trying to figure out the underlying stomach issue, but the good MRI means we're down to garden-variety stuff like an ulcer or food allergy.

Thanks for all of the good wishes, everyone. Smile

That's great news Kary, I'm glad it was nothing scary! Hopefully it's a just an easy allergy type thing that can be easily dealt with.

I missed out on giving good wishes earlier, but I'm thrilled all seems well at this stage,

Kary - I am so happy to hear it's nothing scary! My son has food issues, so if it turns out to be that, I can totally relate on that one.

I smell a rat. I think Kary plotted to have her birthday now just to keep this thread active during a slow spell. She and her mom arranged this all years ago... wotf013

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone!

And here's a story which takes place in Dearborn, MI, some 40-mrrfle years ago. My mother, barely 6 months pregnant, stepped into a drugstore. The sign in the window read "Wonder Drugs - We Deliver." Her water broke while standing in line, and I was nearly born on a gurney a few hours later while they were trying to get her into the delivery room. She said she knew from that point on that I would be an avid reader, albeit somewhat inclined to literalism. The untimely and too-fast delivery process happened again with my sister, who made it into the seventh month before my mother stepped off the ladder of a dock at Silver Lake and jarred herself just enough to start contractions that wouldn't stop. My sister was almost born in the backseat of my uncle's car, who, at the age of 17, was driving like a mad thing to get Mom to the hospital while doing his best Prissy impression from Gone With the Wind.

Hey! When you said you had roots near Dexter, you never mentioned Pinckney! My best friend in college spent summers in the family cabin on the shore of Silver Lake. His mom taught at Pinckney Elementary, and she's now a Park Ranger at the state park there. And one of my best fencing buddies grew up in Pinckney and now lives in a home just off Big Portage Lake. Know any Mulhollands or Laveys or Mastroianis?

If Evil Martin were awake, this is where he would break into a chorus of "It's a Small World After All"...

Lavey sounds familiar, but I'll email you off the board with details. 😉 As for Evil Martin, it's abundantly clear that he's from Sinister, not Dexter.

As for that cottage on Silver Lake - white, two-story, dormer windows in the upstairs, hammock in the front yard wi8th a downslope to the lake. But I think we rented our weeks there. Bluegills were the catch of day, called 'panfish' by some. Cottages on the lake are a thing for Michigan folk. Our cousins have one over on Higgins, and my favorite was near the Lower Peninsula side of the Mighty Mac.

It's thursday! Good luck everyone! I'm ducking and taking cover.
Preston Dennett
(HM x 2)

I didn't just duck; I left town. Went to NYC and saw Jeff Goldblum in Seminar. It's about four new writers who hire a 'name' to critique their work. So funny. Standing ovation. Came back and NOTHING??? Can't afford to hide out again so it's the foxhole for me next week.

Maybe it was the disturbance in the force (you leaving your post) that caused the ripple in time, that left us resultless this last week.

So many possibilities...

Personally, I think the replacement judges were tied up. A few conferences going on for the past couple of weeks. I would suspect some results this week, though.

I hear a lot of Evil Martin on here. Evil Mike would be here to join you, but typically he's too busy with a pirate accent dropping the nation of Demasia on other people (aka League of Legends playing Gangplank and Garen).

Yeah, but it's clearly science fiction. I simply cannot believe Kary is 40-mrrfle years old.

Kary,

I've been away from the forum for a while for a number of reasons, so I've only just read the bad and then the good news. I'm glad the kidlet is okay; there's nothing worse than small children and hospitals.

Tidbit: There's a new Daily Kick from David Farland posted on FB today, though it hasn't hit my inbox yet. So whatever it was that was taking up all his time might be finished.

I'm filtering Hazlett's list:

((And Kary is rearranging it))

8 LAMPS
Tina - (LAMPS)
Marina - (LAMPS)
Kary - (LAMPS)
Dustin - (LAMPS)
Jennifer Hicks (LAMPS)
Isto - (LAMPS)
Preston (LAMPS)
gwasch - (LAMPS)

5 HOLD PILE
Francis Bruno (HOLD PILE)
Izanobu - (HOLD PILE)
The Happy Snappy Gator (HOLD PILE)
onelowerlight - (HOLD PILE)*
MichaelB - (HOLD PILE)

2 NNiNN (or maybe they just ain't sayin')
Martin Shoemaker

So 13 of us left? (Quick, somebody find us a hobbit!) Edit: Found the hobbit*. Now we're at 15, 16 if we count Dr. Phil.
