Yeah! A Kary visit! So glad you're having fun and I see making friends with the local wildlife. If you do see the gator of England steer clear at first. She's a bit cranky due to lack of results.

I told my writer's guild to get a raven as a little mascot. They didn't like the idea.

Definitely like the raven! But I'll bet the gator would find that he tastes like chicken!

I don't know... This thread is getting pretty sedate... I think the wait has finally worn us out. No one has the energy left to speculate. I HOPE that means we're all busy writing, but I fear we're just curled up in our basements and jumping any time the phone rings.

It's a shame you couldn't meet up with Kary. Somehow I think two hopefuls meeting would have to jumpstart the contest machine and get some results announced.

I've been lurking most of the day as I wrestle with my potential Q3 story. It's been bloody boring as the Brits would say. I would just feel foolish at saying, "Tomorrow's Thursday! It'll be tomorrow." I think they're trying to break our spirit or MAYBE they're trying to turn us into "suffering artists" by providing the suffering side of the equation.

If this goes on much longer, some of us will have four entries out to the contest simultaneously.

You know. I think you're right. In fact, I feel it in my bones. I KNOW tomorrow will be the day. If I think it with intense, scary eyes, I can send a psychic message to Joni. SEND IT TOMORROW SEND IT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. COME ON. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. If we all send the psychic message, she won't be able to resist.
Nuts. I don't see a psychic smilie with an intense gaze.

Bingo! We have a winner folks!
Seems like a logical explanation to me.
I could remove a little of the suspense for you all, but I think I'll just let you stew some more instead.
That said, I'd be shocked if we heard anything tomorrow.

Eeeevvvvvvil Annie.
EXPERIMENTS!???!!@# I flippin' LOVE experiments! Who says this thread is losing it's gusto? (ok Martin does, but that's ok).
My two favorite experiments on mental head games are the ever popular Milgram studies (with the fake electric shocks and the Teacher/Student set up where the Teacher keeps coming in and telling the Student to shock the volunteer) and the lesser known 1984 experiment on monkeys and their fear of snakes. I think it was the '84 one and not any of the others before, but they basically kept presenting a snake to the monkeys (who are genetically fearful of snakes... or at least that was the thought at the time, now they believe fears are all learned). They started presenting the snake when the monkeys would go to the bathroom or eat to see if the monkeys would become less fearful and in fact it made most of them display signs of mental illness (think schizoaffective disorder or bipolar or some other form of psychosis). The stopped the study at that point.
The anticipation of the snake at any point was too much to take.
Lesson: if you find yourself at any point going crazy over waiting then it's time to step aside and maybe do some writing or watch a movie to keep yourself sane. Literally.
ETA: Another point to consider. Paper subs won't hear until the hold pile or other esubbers get some sort of notification. So I'm just sort of watching ya'll for some sort of sign. In the WOTF game of mofia, Annie now looks VERRYY suspicious.

Don't let her get to you--that smilie she used was obviously the dreaded Shoemaker Smilie, which basically translates into "suck it."
