I got an email back in March saying my story is on "hold"....not quite sure what that means. But well over a month now and nothing further. I guess I'm still on "hold"?

Same here. I asked Joni about it this week, she'd hoped at that time that Dave would get through all the judging before the banquet/awards, but that set everything back several weeks. She and Dave both project decisions this week.

Hi, DeathValleyDog, and welcome!
C'mon down to the Q1 JIbber Jaber thread, which is where we do most of our agonizing over the wait. These threads up here are for posting actual results such as rejections, HMs and such.

After getting the notice that I was in that 2nd look pool, I get a form rejection. Which is pretty much what I expected to happen. Predictive communications from WotF have always been unreliable for me.
On the bright side, because of an odd mixup that left this particular story in an awkward situation, this story "Mall-Crossed Love" has already been accepted to Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, a romance that takes place in an endless mall between a boy who works in a gadget store and a girl who works in a stationery store.

After trying for eleven years (yes, eleven years), my co-written story with my late husband, Michael B. Caffrey, "To Survive the Maelstrom," was an honorable mention.
Michael left behind a good bit of writing. But it took me a while to figure out what he was doing.
This story is special because it's the first time I really think I figured out exactly what to do . . . I can add to what Michael's doing, and keep his work going, and still do my own flourishes, too.
Anyway, I'm going to try "To Survive the Maelstrom" at F&SF first. Wish me luck with that, eh?
Congratulations in advance to the winners.
