Newb to this contest, subbed twice in all. Looking forward to Mr. Farland's critique too because I have no idea what to expect!
This is the first time I've entered WOTF. Can someone tell me where you find the list of finalists? Thanks!
Semi-finalist. Very happy! I've had a few short stories published for pay in small online markets, so this is by far my biggest writing success.
Quick question: how long does it usually take to receive the critique? I'm dying to read it, but I know Dave has to be insanely busy. I don't want to nag or be a bother, but my curiosity is burning a hole in my brain.
Hi Anna and Aaron--
This is the results only thread (for quick references). We reserve discussions and congratulations for the jibber-jabber threads. So head on over there (under 'quarterly topics') for answers to your questions!

I got my formal straight-up rejection in the mail today for my snailmail submission. I'd already known it was implied because of the Finalist listing not having my name on it, but hadn't known if it was HM or what.
It was that form rejection that says (paraphrased) "You've been rejected. But we have some good news! Brad Torgersen is now the moderator at the forums." Seriously, worst rejection form ever. And that news is not exactly new anymore--no offense to Brad or anything.

Coming up: "The Chaplain's War," from
Nebula, Hugo, and Campbell nominee.
These results are in reference to the last quarter ( 4th ) of last year, correct? ( 2012 ) - since I haven't heard of any decisions yet on the first quarter for 2013- I'm gathering, probably not due out until at least the end of May?...maybe?...
(Posted in the wrong quarter... my mistake!)
Hi, Lindsey, and welcome!
What a great first showing for your first entry AND your first post. Woo hoo!
This thread is for Quarter four of Volume 29, which has already closed. The current quarter results-wise is Q1 of Vol. 30, so your results go over here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1606
In terms of submitting entries, we're in Q2, which ends at midnight on March 31. Don't worry about getting the quarters mixed up. They're confusing, and almost everyone has trouble with them. ![]()

Hi Kary,
So then, I'm a little "quarter-mixed" as well now...
From what I understand, after the last day of the 3rd month ( which constitutes as a specific Quarter ),
then the judging occurs directly after and takes roughly about 2-2.5 months to complete.
So, that info. plugged in, we should have the results for Q2 (Jan.-March) by end of May to middle of June?...
Hi, Jose,
This section of threads is supposed to be for results posting only, so subscribers don't get spammed to death every time someone asks a question or woo-hoos. General conversation happens in the quarterly jibber jabber threads, so I'll give you your answer down here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1505
Cheers!
