The use of vulgarity in contest entries.

The judges have mentioned that they generally don't choose stories with a lot of vulgarity. I'm just looking to understand that a bit more.

Sometimes, sprinkling, "damn" into a story adds some flavor. I don't even consider damn a swear, but I realize there are those who do. Where exactly is the line drawn?
