I received a Writer's Digest Book for Christmas. It has been in publication for several years, so I was wondering about everyone's opinion on it. I've cracked the cover but haven't dove in yet. I'm assuming that the marketing advice may be a little dated, but hoping there are still nuggets to be gleaned.
Writing Fantasy & Science Fiction by Orson Scott Card, et. al. and the Editors of Writer's Digest. 2013
Thanks for any experience or insight you are willing to share.
Happy New Year.
I would suggest diving in and reading. Orson Scott Card is one of WotF judges.
Wulf Moon's book, How to Write a Howling Good Story helped me understand the components of a short story.

I've had that one on my shelf for a while. It's got good advice in! I would be cautious of the business/marketing assumptions, but I'm of the opinion that collecting writing advice, as much as possible is always a good thing!
