Hard Science Fiction Writer and Physicist Carl Frederick Creates a Cross between Harry Potter, Lord of the Flies and a Quantum Mechanics Textbook
Interactive eBook is a whole new take on characters coming to life – discussing quantum physics on the side
Ithaca, NY—“I believe e-readers will soon take over from print,” states Carl Frederick, theoretical physicist, sf writer and winner of the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest. (www.writersofthefuture.com) “I’ve done some work that can only be appreciated when using an e-reader.” Carl has written an anthology S++ Science Fiction Stories for Linux Geeks, where there is a story where the reader can often click to read the story from either of the two main characters. “And in my science-heavy novel, ‘The Trojan Carousel,’ Frederick continues, “something of a cross between ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Lord of the Flies’, and a quantum mechanics textbook, one can frequently click to continue a scene, not to advance the story, but to listen in as the characters discuss quantum physics.”
Carl was the published finalist and first appeared in the 18th volume of L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future. (Galaxy Press) He then won in the 19th volume for his story, A Boy and His Bicycle and has been consistently selling stories since his writing contest win, thirty-seven alone to Analog Magazine.
Within the last few months, Frederick’s has embraced e-publishing via Amazon (Kindle) and Barnes & Noble (Nook). He states, “While I’ve thirty two titles up at Amazon, my anthology SF++ Science Fiction Stories for Linux Geeks is selling more than all the others combined.”
His stories can also be found at Amazon.com and BN.com using the search name ‘Frithrik,’ the old English form of his last name. Now in its 29th year, the Writers of the Future writing contest attracts entries worldwide. Twelve quarterly winners receive prize monies and, along with selected finalists, are published in an annual anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future (Galaxy Press).
Initiated by multiple New York Times’ best-selling author L. Ron Hubbard, the merit-based Writers of the Future Contest has launched the careers of eight writers who have gone on to become New York Times bestsellers.
