A Note About Promotion

Just a quick note…

While we do celebrate success here, we DON’T pitch books to each other. (And there IS a difference.)

First of all, this place isn’t about pitches. It’s about a supportive writing community with a shared interest in winning Writers and Illustrators of the Future. (And some of us have already won and want to see you join us!)

Second of all, anyone who pitches books to writers is a damn fool. Pitch to readers! There aren’t enough of us writers to support a career. Restaurants don’t pitch to chefs, they pitch to diners.

I just blocked a pitch post and banned the poster. If your very first post here is a pitch for your book—or your “services”—you’re gonna get blocked and banned so fast, you’ll never know what hit you. Count on it.

But if you’re a regular participant here, and you sell a story or a book, by all means tell us! In particular, that’s what the Success thread is for. We want to celebrate and share your exciting news!
