Almost Success - The "Mixed Feelings" Thread

My story to Asimov's is going on 37 days out and the status has changed to "under review" at least two days ago. I'm just happy it's not an immediate reject!!

Woo-hoo! Good luck! I'm at 43 days, still in the "received" status. I expect an immediate rejection. It's a long piece.

That's odd that they don't review them in order. I haven't been checking up much on it but then I saw some rejections on the submission grinder that were submitted at about the same time. My story is 6.5k thinly veiled stab at drone warfare and neoconservatism... but I think a lot of fun.

No idea what to send next. His assistant clearly likes my sense of humor, but not so sure about Gordon. Perhaps a black knight with no arms and legs would suit his tastes better?

For some strange, unknown reason I thought I came close with either Stephen or Lisa but if so obviously not close enough.

And I wouldn't know how to get past them, I had enough troubles with JJA and he read lost of my stuff.

Does anyone know what it means if something is "Under Review" for several days?

I'm still under review Asimov's. I saw someone made a sale on a story that was submitted near the time my story was (on the black hole website). I'm over forty days now so I hope to hear something. Maybe after Rand Paul's filibuster my story is even more relevant.

I checked mine earlier tonight. Still received. I sent it in Feb 18 so it hasn't been a month yet even though it feels like it. The same goes for my Analog story. Same dates, same status.

And I was thinking about what story to send to F&SF next, and decided on one I just wrote to night. Short enough for me to work on it the rest of the week. See if this one will get a better response. It's a bit different for me.

I'm under review too, as of Monday night (not 2 days yet.) This is at 63 days. I'm not seeing this as meaning anything at this point, I just think they are a bit slow lately.

It might indicate that the story has been transferred from a data base to an e-reader or something similar. If the editor loads them in batches, it would explain why several people are under review at once.

I was sort of hoping it meant that the story got by a slush pile reader or something. If I can keep lying to myself I can build up enough confidence to keep writing stories and submitting even though it is likely the case that they're transferred over in batches.

Anyways... when I have enough time to hyper analyze the term "under-review" I have enough time to write (more than enough I suppose). I have a non-WOTF story up at critters that I revised after getting rejected from Clarkesworld if anyone is interested.

My submission status at 41 days is still listed as "Under Review" and giving me false hope, but I know better...

I'm in the same camp. We must have submitted at the same time. Looks like she rejected a bunch of 60 day stories but left ours. Eventually we'll scrap together the madness to the method

Asimov's had another round of rejections today according to the submission grinder. I had to check my e-mail after seeing that... still in it though.

Well, just got a form rejection BUT Lightspeed submissions open tomorrow.
