The "real" Ember is a good friend and let me borrow her account, she won with "Half Past" in Vol. 31
I don't really know where to categorize this since I'm not entirely thrilled that they are publishing both my story and the other finalist story but will only give a prize to the one with the most reads, but here's my flash story for the Story Star Publishing contest:

Vol 29 Q3 Semi Finalist
They're judging who wins based on how many people read each story? That's kind of arbitrary. Well, I'm glad I didn't click on the other story and read it, too, since apparently my click was a vote. Strange to have people vote for something before they even know what's in it.
(Your story was really lovely, Dantzel.)

Thanks for reading, Grayson, and doubly so for enjoying.
I've decided that if I win I can treat this as a SUCCESS! I got paid!!! sort of publication, and if I don't, it'll be filed under success! I got published!
I'm trying to think positively here.

Ah yes. Same here. I forget sometimes people can't read my mind. Awesome job, Dantzel, and I'd be a little mad they published it too.

Haha. Same here, Tina. I read it before dashing off to get the kids from school. Then making dinner and the whole results bomb. I had meant to come and say something yesterday.
And, yes. I'd be mad, too.

I find it funny I always see my typos better when someone else quotes me.

That's because you don't really read what you said. You already know the gist of it.
When someone quotes you, you have to read it to see what they're responding to.
Oh dear. I need a signature.
And an avatar.
And probably other things I don't even know about.
I feel naked.
Jess you speak the truth. That could be a huge reason why this happens to me.

My alternate history short story, "The Maltese Crux" got picked up by The Grantville Gazette. As an added bonus, my story inspired the cover art!

Here is the main page for the Grantville Gazette: http://www.grantvillegazette.com
For those who are not aware: the Gazette doesn't just publish 1632 stories, but each issue also contains a story from Baen's Universe as well as a non-fiction column from the wonderful and most excellent Kristine Kathryn Rusch.
