It has come to my attention (thanks, austinDM!) that we have danced around this topic, but not made it clear here on the forum. So here's the announcement...

Writers and Illustrators of the Future Party at WorldCon!

WorldCon attendees, look for the Writers and Illustrators of the Future (WAIOTF) room party! Writers judge David Farland will be dropping by for at least part of the night. Our hosts include former WOTF winner Bill Ledbetter and this year's Golden Pen winner, Tina Smith (a.k.a Tina Gower)! Our other hosts are Dantzel Cherry and myself. Forum regulars and writer winners Marina Lostetter and Andrea Stewart will also be there, and I'm fairly sure we'll see Kevin Ikenberry, Austin, and a bunch of other forumites. And we hope this includes you! Come by and hang out with other WAIOTF folks. Eat, drink and be Merry!

This is an official WAIOTF party sponsored by Author Services to promote the contest, but it's also a chance to meet your forum buddies. A few of us managed to have dinner last year, but we wanted an easier way to find each other this year. Besides this, there's also a WAIOTF panel on Friday at 2, so this will be a great chance to learn inside tips about the contest.

The party will be on Friday night. Look for the fliers/announcements at the party hotel, hopefully as early as Thursday afternoon, for time and room number. We will also try to post that information here, in the Forum and the WotF Facebook site as soon as we have it.

Hope to see you all there!

(And who knows who else might make an appearance? wotf013 )

I never wanted to go to any old dumb party anyway!

Seriously, have a blast for me since I cannot. On the plus side I have a new job and while I had thought it to be a purely temp thing, that's looking less and less the case.

Thanks Martin and I tend to agree. It looks like the temp position has a path open to a full time union position with great benefits, a pension (my god I never thought I'd see one of those), and doing a public good to boot.

I will also have a few copies of vol. 29 for sale at the con, so if you would like to buy one (for less than list price) and get it signed, there will be an opportunity. I can only get so many books into my luggage though, so if you want one be sure to catch me early.

Not that I had even a glimmer of a chance of being nominated with my three stories at the time (two in an obscure and now defunct anthology), but thank you!

Seems like it's nice to be on the list at least. Better to be chosen but still as I said nice.

So a nice congrats.
