I got an HM off a rewrite from a previous HM. So there’s consistency in that! Congratulations to all!

Is it possible to apply for an Honorable Mention certificate? ? I have seen other writers with it. Does the contest still do that?

@cs_hadebe you should eventually get an email asking if you'd like one. Say yes. put it up where you write and feed off it.

You’ll get another email from Joni that says what your specific placement was. She’ll then ask for a reply if you want a certificate.

Congratulations to everyone this round! Saw a lot of familiar names on the list! Onward and upward!

To be honest, I was bit surprised at placing anywhere with the story I submitted for Q1. It's more of a satire than anything, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

I love hearing when people break through to a new level, and we got a few of those this time! Great work! And congratulations to everyone who had the courage to submit, whether you placed or not. Keep writing!

Congrats to ALL!!! Whether you are in a list or not you are still a winner just for having taken the courage to submit your tale.

While I have not yet received an email stating as such, the SHM list has my name in it; so I assume that is where I stand this quarter.

Good luck in Q2 for those who entered there, as well. And continue typing for Q3 - you [we] have a month and a half left.

Interestingly, I had an SHM I reworked go to an R (I assume. I have no email yet). It will be interesting to see if I get a hint as to why.

@jonilabaqui Awesome news.  I'm so excited to have achieved my first SHM!  Last quarter was my first HM too.  I'm heading in the right direction.

For those of you just beginning or those who have been around for awhile, I do suggest/implore you to publicly post your track record in your profiles. It lets people know that the path is usually hard, but we're not alone. Seeing how many different rankings winners had or seeing how it isn't a linear progression for most can provide comfort to a lot of writers. I post everything I've earned in WotF from my R to my SF.

And if you decide to keep your results private, that's okay. It's your journey. Full disclosure, I didn't post my stats until I had a decent track record. It's not my intention to shame anyone into anything.

Congratulations all around and also commiseration because yeah, it stings when you put your current best out into the world for judgement and don’t get the hoped for results.

This is definitely not a linear process. I haven’t gotten writing results whiplash yet…But for Illustrators I’ve jumped between Finalist and HM a number of times and this time got a rejection.

For writers I got my 6th HM. Like many of us I was hoping to break that wall and get a silver or higher. But I like my chances for quarter 2 and my Q3 is in the works.

I'm not on the list, so I guess there's no certificate coming.  This was a rewrite of a rejection that I think is better but is still not up to snuff or maybe just not contest material.  Now I'll start circulating it.  Congrats to those who scored, especially those who leveled up!

@chwalter wanted to let you know you have better than a rejection.... Once we sort out our email follow up you will see that you were in the category of RWC, (Rejected With Comments).

You won't actually get the comments, but it is a new category that will give you more direction.

I was really hoping to break the barrier to SHM at least; my writing group raved over this story and said it was my best yet.

Fortunately, they ALSO said that about my current Q2 submission, so fingers crossed for that one!
