Well, I've just received my first crit on my piece for Q2, and, while I was waiting for it, wrote something that wasn't intended for WotF, but might be just right. Do I wait for Q3 for one of these - and which one?

And by now, I can't even remember what my Q1 submission is about.

Okay, the submission portal is now open for Q3 (Cycle 41C). Good luck to everyone! If anyone has any issues let me know, but should be all good to go.

I've probably guessed the correct answer to my own question, but I want to double-check anyway.

I haven't heard anything about my Q2 submission (probably way too soon since I didn't submit until the end of the quarter came bearing down upon me), but can I still submit for Q3?  I know it says no simultaneous submissions, but am I correct in assuming that means per quarter and I'm free to submit for the next quarter even if I'm not sure what the judges thought of my earlier submission?

@shounenbat Yes, it's fine to submit.  Q2 results might not be released until after the Q3 deadline.  Recently I had submissions for three quarters simultaneously pending.

I'm working on my Q3 story now. I started it Q1, but that didn't happen. Then thought I'd submit for Q2, but realized I didn't have the right heart's desire for the MC. Now I think I have it figured out and need to smooth out the rough draft.

I hear you. The story I submitted at the tail end of last quarter was a hasty write because the one I'd been working on most of the year just wasn't coming together. The way I had it in my head would basically only work at a flash fiction story. Then I changed the POV character to let the story breathe a little and it wound up about 16,500 words.  I'm still working it out!  Aargh!

Have a look at the first post. As long as you submit only one time during each of the four quarters, you're good.

You can't submit say, January 10th, then February 25th. That's two in the same quarter.

@toddjones Fabulous, you're on you way. Took my winning story a solid redraft as well in terms of characterization (for protagonist and for the antagonist), and it made all the difference.

“Stories are the collective wisdom of everyone who has ever lived. Your job as a storyteller is not simply to entertain. Nor is it to be noticed for the way your turn a phrase. You have a very important job—one of the most important. Your job is to let people know that everyone shares their feelings—and that these feelings bind us. Your job is a healing art, and like all healers, you have a responsibility. Let people know they are not alone. You must make people understand that we are all the same.”

@jason ok, so even though I've already submitted art for Q3, I'm still waiting on results for Q2. I have a "e.s.p. hunch" that it's about to come down any day now...(maybe this week?)... shrug

In with an older thing which I hadn't realized I'd never submitted to the Contest. Personally I think it's got legs, but tho it's come close, it's not sold elsewhere.
Still, you know what they say: fifty-third time's the charm!

Sounds good. Yes Q2 is still in judging. I don't have control over this but hope it is soon.

Just submitted for Q3. This is my earliest submission yet. But it's because I started it six months ago and skipped last quarter. Ah well, now to work on next quarters submission. It is nice having it done before the last minute.

Congrats on your first submission.  dancingbanana Wipe the sweat off and enjoy watching others cross the finish line.

Of course, in a couple weeks WotF will be moving the finish line for another submission.  So, don't rest too long.

"Too busy writing" is always a good excuse!

I'll make it in by Sunday, I swear.
