Honorable Mention.

Oddly, I also got one of the duplicate emails saying HM for Q2; But I had a standard rejection for Q2.

So, maybe I got a HM this time around?

Got a SF this time around, which is pretty funny because this is the same quarter I got a SF last year - must be fate! I really was thinking this story would be ‘the one’ but I guess this does at least prove it’s better than the others I’ve sent in.

Congrats to everyone who got a certificate.  It is awesome to see active people in the forum getting noticed.

I received a RWC for my Q3.  I knew I didn't stick the ending, so I shouldn't be surprised.

I got my first RWC after a string of HMs, but in a way it's nice to get a DIFFERENT result 😀

It's not glaringly obvious to me which reason it is, but at least I got a clue on a couple that it definitely isn't, so that's a start. I personally like my Q3 story best of all I've written so far, so I shall be sending it elsewhere, and focus on my WIP.

Congrats to all, and good luck to those who might be waiting another call Smile

Congrats on the previous HMs. Sorry to hear about the RWC. I have a couple Rs I'd like to fix up and send back in, if you are interested in a story swap. PM me...

Several of my stories that my test readers have said are my great don't seem to place well with WotF. Just the market.  Try other markets.

RWC here. I don't know what I really expected, it's a weird story with, like, five narrators?
Won't submit it again here so I don't mind talking about it.

In fact, it's my number one candidate for self publishing. I reckon it might find its audience out there, somewhere?

Just to fill the package out, surround it with, essentially, reprints —maybe a couple "flash" stories I've about given up on selling (one of them pretty consistently get's the "I only wish there were more of it treatment, which I think means it's good, right?) and at the right price point...

I've even gone so far as to design a cover, tho I'm told it's best to get someone in to do that for you...
What do you folks think of this? Designers want to chime in?

Got 2 emails as well, the one from Q2 and a new one for Q3. I just assumed the Q2 one was a resent due to some automatic thingie error and ignored it.

Anyway:

hm

Confirming Q2 was HM and Q3 was also a HM. Sorry about the system sending out the Q2 again.

Correct, it was just the HM email that went out twice.

Sorry for the confusion on the system. Q2 was a RWC and Q3 was HM. I hope this helps clarify.

I got one email.
subject: "Congrats – 2nd Quarter Honorable Mention from Writers of the Future Contest – 41st Year"
in the body: "Thank you very much for entering the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest for the 2nd quarter 2024 (stories entered between 1 January and 31 March 2023)."

I did not enter Q2, only Q3. So... I guess it's safe to assume my Q3 entry is an honorable mention(?)

Hello, I checked in the system and saw that your Q3 was HM. I don't see a Q2 story in the system under this same account so not really sure why you got the Q2, but congratulations on your HM. There should have been a second email that went out, maybe it went into spam or still coming.

@amyms Congrats on taking the first step and writing a story. Awesome that you took the second step and submitted it. The third step, at least for most of us like me with plenty of Rs, is handling rejections. Hang in there and focus on the fourth, and most crucial step in your writing adventure, get back in front of the keyboard and write your next story and submit it.
