Discussion: Q3 Volume 42

I received a Finalist call, last year, on a Sunday. So, any day, can be a 'Thursday.'   

For what it's worth, as a Q2 winner, I'm twitching right along with the rest of you to see who will join us in April. Good luck to everyone!

@stricklandia Come join us in twitching tent then. Now how do you like coffee or tea?

@stricklandia I'm thinking we'd have received a call by now if we were a finalist. I'm trying not to be too sad about it.

You have already made good progress by writing a story and sending it in.

Never self reject. Just keep learning, writing, and sending stories in.

@toddjones I view it more as an objective look at my writing. The story I sent IS decent, but a bit below what I would consider publishable plus it is really short. What I am currently writing is around the level I consider worth publishing (although it still needs some rewrites) plus it is around 13-14k so there's much more room to do some fun stuff and develop characters.

Currently at a local coffee shop, getting down words for my Q4 entry. Should have had it off to beta readers by now, but the whole household's been battling an illness the last three weeks. Never mind that, though. This story's getting told, dang it!

Edited to add: I believe I'm past the point of being contagious, otherwise I wouldn't be at my favorite writer's haunt. Just hoping this next round of antibiotics finally gets rid of the secondary infection!

[She grabs her cellphone. She doesn't need to be in the tent to stay informed.]

@annmarieinlr as Cray Dimensional says, no news is no news. I didn't get my finalist call last quarter until after people had received their rejections (even if that is out of order from how it typically goes).

@stricklandia That is a bit encouraging, though I am sure it was so stressful for you! I'm glad you got that win. I'm super proud of you.

Making sure my phone is charged and with me...

Funny, I've actually been more relaxed until now because somehow my Q3 forum comments that go to my email weren't getting to me, which is usually how I know when to start twitching. But then it seemed oddly quiet this close to the quarter end, so I checked in on the forum directly. Ooops! I'll grab cookies and twitch along with others now. It definitely feels late. On the plus side, the lack of twitching made it easier to work on my Q4 entry, which is getting close to done...   Good luck to everyone!

Is it time to get all anxious already? I was hoping to have my next story done and submitted by now, but writer's block has been a killer this quarter.

I'm hoping that my story for next quarter gets done soon. Does anyone go in a cycle where you submit a story, think it's great, start work on your next story and find yourself disappointed with your previous one because the next is better?

then you are doing something right. I think it’s called growing. 

Each of my stories are different. Some I like more than others. However, I keep learning the hard way that I shouldn’t read the story again once I submit.

seems like a good time to use this sign. I wish the face was less grumpy looking though. Sometimes the waiting is to best part. It's when all possibilities are on the table. In the meantime regarding my Q4 story: this captures my mood pretty well.

Same. My Q4 story is a monster of a story. I didn't feel skilled enough to do it justice a couple of quarters ago, but now I think I can... if only I had more TIME!

@Jason Greetings ! Anything coming through the pipeline yet ? What's the word ? Still waiting on the results for Q3 and I just sent in my last Q4 art entries late last night. Godspeed to all of us !
