Thanks Dantzel, SC,
Yeah, Joni was fast. In case your interested, my entry was only 3400 words, one of the shortest I've ever entered. I think I know why it got an HM and why it didn't go any higher. It had a very original concept, but the setting was almost non-existant. I don't think I put any smells in there either! Ha, so easy to speculate. After all, that's what we do, right?

Congrats Kary and Bluestocking for being semi-finalists (yay for critique!), and Preston and NoTimeToThink for the HMs.

And... belatedly... well done and good luck to Martin, Marina,Tina, Chris, Jeremy, Holly, Sean and Stephen.

(Honestly, I go on holiday for a few weeks and there's all this excitement. I ask you, is that fair? (Am I safe to mention holidays? Surely Kary's too jumping-up-and-down excited to carry out her fish-slapping threat?!))

Congratulations Preston! wotf010

And yes, Kary, I would ask DW before posting your semi-finalist critique on here. I know folks posted KD's critiques quite freely but as far as I know she didn't sell them or run writers workshops. wotf033

And they critique these? For real?? That's way more work and feedback than I expected. Wonderful!

Yep the Semi-Finalist get critiques. There are 10 Semi-Finalist spot if I remember correctly. However, a story that has received a critique will not be eligible to be entered again because it would give that story an unfair advantage, though the author may continue to enter other stories until they win.

My sweet and sunny disposition has been restored by the combination of yesterday's news and my morning coffee. I hereby retract any threats of fish-slapping. I do feel I should clarify, however.

Personal holidays / vacations are great.

Holidays that delay results are haddock-worthy. 😉

AUGGGGGGHHHHH! I'm dying here. What is Joni doing with the lamps? Mailing the results? Haven't heard a thing and I'm out in California (my mail in Ohio). I can't take it any longer. Gotta email Joni.

Congratulations to Kary (WOW), Preston, Bluestocking, and NoTimeToThink.

I came back to check further on the results, so there are still only two who got Semi's ? And two new HMs?

And some may have gotten further? Or was that list for something else?

Great and Congrats to you all.

Wonder how many HMs there were altogether from here.

We'll find out via blog post/press release eventually. Joni will list all of the HMs, SHMs, and SFs - I believe all in one blow.

Has everyone in the hold pile been notified by now, then? So we're just waiting on the placements of the finalists?
Wonder how long those will take Smile GL to everyone involved... after this much waiting already, more waiting on placements can't be easy... of course, then again, that is an exciting thing to wait for wotf007

Suspense, building... and I'm not even in this quarter! wotf011 It's probably going to be a lot worse (for me) when it's Q2's turn (of course, it's possible that I'm rejected early, and that would let me off the hook... but I guess I'd rather have sleepless nights worrying about where my story ranked than that release)(Like someone winning the lottery and then complaining that so much is taken in taxes... yeah... I really feel for them... terrible how much they're losing in taxes; must be horrible being in that situation...) wotf001
