I loved the Death Roll comment on the other thread.
Awesome! While I admit I--ahem--often laugh at my own terrible gator jokes, I confess I was practically rolling around on the floor with that one. It's nice to know I wasn't the only one laughing.
As for writing a dark comedy--I've already written one of sorts! Two even! Flash length and near flash length. I'm tempted to try something longer...
We receive a lot of fantasy fiction, but never enough science fiction or humor.

40 lines on Duo and still going. The mind boggles...
One of those 40 lines looks to be a Q1 personal rejection (given how many days out it was). But 39 is still huge! I now think a third of the responses must have been sent out yesterday.

I did recall some words a little gator-cleaning bird had imparted.

I just got my final HM certificate. My husband did a little dance (he's been waiting for me to pro-out forever). I added it to the stack on a shelf. Maybe I'll have an HM burning party or something...

You burn one word of your fine prose, and I will march out there and kick you. Twice, if it's a Remy Pigeon story!

Shhh... I'm trying to sneak in as many plugs for Remy Pigeon as I can sneak past Brad... I read books by Heinlein, Bova, Bellet, and more in the past month; and I liked Remy Pigeon better than all the rest...

I was gonna say...
Sorry to hear you didn't win jd--making finalist is awesome, though it still stings when you don't place. Look on the bright side, you still have a shot at published finalist if you decide to let your story stay with them until next year (I know it's a long wait though).

We play a little game of Mafia. Where everyone starts saying "It aint me" and we all sit around trying to figure out if the hold outs are it or not.
And Jeremy, make sure you send that story out to other markets or self publish it. Lots of people will want to buy it now that it has Dave Wolverton's or a WOTF judge's stamp of approval on it. And Yeah, it's worth it to hang on to it too until you know if you'll be a published finalist or not.
