Well... THANKS!
Nice to be here. Seems like I was wandering around in the dark by myself and didn't even know there was a whole village on the other side of the hill! Though seeing a handful of your posts is pretty intimidating. You each have a vast story machine running that gets a gem of an entry in each quarter. I have a notebook with a few old stories that have been rejected by magazines so manytimes they're now all grey-haired and worn out. And thanks for the encouragement but I'm pretty sure if this one doesn't make it I'll be about spent. Most of my work tends to be too long and awfully dark for a general audience. (At least i like to lean on that as an excuse for not getting more stuff published.)
Nice to meet everyone and thanks again for the reassurance!
(and I have no idea what that long string of letters refers to...)
Not to worry, UEMoBCT--er, JD(?). Not all of us are vast story machines. I barely squeak through each quarter with an entry, and have an equal number of "not a form rejection" responses and "form rejection" responses.

Agreed, I'm sure that a fair number of people are in a similar boat. I know I certainly don't have an abundance of stories to choose from! As a matter of fact, if schools offered degrees in procrastination, I'd have an honorary doctorate! (I just started writing my intended Q3 story a couple days ago, and it was a pretty similar situation with my first submission (to Q2))(Don't look at me like that... I'll stop procrastinating next quarter...)
Obviously, I don't have any responses yet since Q2 was my first time entering But, as I heard a former winner mention (Eric James Stone) there's no reason to not submit, since you can keep entering until you either win, or you've sold enough to other markets that you are disqualified... both of which are good scenarios
Keep at it! (in my inexperienced opinion)

Welcome to Holly and Mr. Brink. And congratulations!
I do like the sound of Mr Brink too, living under a rock. You don't happen to be a reptile do you? Snake maybe? There's not nearly enough reptiles on this forum.

That would be AWESOME! That was an entertaining movie, but I thought the premise was a bit unoriginal. I mean, who doesn't think they're secretly auditioning for an awesome job when they play video games?
Just me huh?

My starfighting skills are a bit rusty. Do you think they could use me in the propaganda department?

Someone else can have the prize for pushing the thread to 100, but I want the prize for first Q1 story to go live anywhere.
Dang, Amazon is fast.
The blurb has already been tweaked, just waiting for the changes to catch up.

Thanks for the welcome!
Looks nice, Kary.
Seems like a lot of you are prolific short story writers, but I tend to think in novels or novellas. I've only actually written a handful of shorts, and that's one thing I'm working on, getting better at short form. I guess something's going well!

I wish I could think in longer form. It's challenging for me. Although my Q2 entry is up over 10k, so that's something.
Say! I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing any results back from Q2? Not that I'm getting antsy or anything. I know there are still several folks waiting to hear anything from Q1!

LOL, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to start thinking about Q2. Afterall, Dave did say he started on the Q2s this past Saturday.

Jeez. I last checked in on Friday. I come home from work and there's NEWS! The finalists have been called! There was a message on my answering machine today. Nothing but static. Guess that means I'm not a finalist this time. Oh, well. There are still slots open for Semis, Silvers and HMs, so maybe I'll slip into one of those! I hope so. Congrats to the to the two known finalists, and the others of course. And good luck to all who are still waiting. I'm sure the list will be up shortly and we can all relax for a few seconds, and move on to quarter 2 with equal fervor.
