THE SUPER SECRETS OF WRITING BOOKS ARE ABOUT TO COME OUT! THIS SPECIAL EDITION IS THE FIRST! I actually consulted with David Farland on one of the chapters in this, and when he read the final he said, "Super cool!" I can't tell you how much I wish he could have been here to see this moment. I feel like a kid graduating from college, but his dad isn't there to see it. At least I did a nice tribute to Dave inside. And put in a good pitch for people to join the Writers of the Future Forum. Let's see if they listen.

August check-in! I submitted 1 story, wrote 1 shorter short story (still longer than flash), 1 KYD, and multiple flash fiction stories. For some reason I'm on a flash kick. It's been great because I've been really honing in on openings and endings. There's no room for forgiveness when the story has to be 100 words, under 500 words, or under 1000 words.

Happy Monday, Challenge Beasties! Heres your writing prompt:
The poisoned chalice.
Also, once you’ve finished submitting your Q4 for the year, I’d like you to look back over this workshop year and analyze what it helped you to accomplish. Did your output increase beyond what you formerly believed you were capable of? Did you have signs your writing has leveled up? How about WotF results so far? Any nice personals? Any sales to respected markets? How have the Super Secrets worked for you?
Please share your year end progress report whenever you are ready. And don’t forget, we still have two quarterly results to go to see how far everyone has come!
I’ve enjoyed seeing each of you stay the course, complete all the challenges and assignments, and to watch your progress! Well done!
To your future careers!

I posted this announcement to social media today, but it’s fitting I post it here. Half the writers in this anthology are from the Super Secrets Workshop, several from this current year! Well done, Challenge Beasties!
Here’s the post:
The secret is out! I was commissioned to write a story for the Murderbirds anthology, and I’m happy to announce it’s been accepted and will be added to this collection of wild avian fiction by wonderful authors! However, there’s one catch! It only triggers when the Kickstarter hits the $4200 level. It’s within reach, and Kickstarter has already awarded the anthology its coveted “Project We Love” badge. Why? Because of what this project represents—writing groups working together to help their stories take to the skies!
You can help this fellowship of writers. Order a copy through the Kickstarter today, and don’t miss some of the awesome bonus items! And if you can’t support right now (we’re writers, we’ve all been there) it’s a simple thing to support the project with a share. We LOVE you for that! ?
Thank you, my friends, for helping us get the word out, or supporting us to bring this cooperative dream between writing groups to life! The link to view the Kickstarter is in the comments section. Or do a quick tap on the share button. Or both! ? Thanks for all the support, it’s so appreciated! Cheers!
Travel to the Kickstarter here, if ye dare enter this realm! Here there be dragons. Feathered ones!

Ha, ha. Had to double check what this was.
We'd say 'Under the pump' in the mighty land of Oz. (at least I think that's the equivalent)

I love writing.
Been working on a KYD from that prompt 'Under the Gun/Pump'. I started it out with the intent of showing a wife going through hardship to demonstrate her love for her husband. About halfway through, the husband became less than honorable and the story quickly spiraled into last-minute ditch at vengeance (that's been really fun to write).
Many things I plot out beforehand, but I do love pantsing some stories and just seeing where they end up.
