Not only was he a member of my year-long workshop here, but he also took my masterclass “KYD: The Kill Your Darlings Exercise.” When he read the result of this exercise at the end of the class, I knew he had a winner. Sure enough, although never published before, he sold it to DreamForge magazine.
But wait! There’s more! It was nominated in the Critters Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Magic Realism Story of 2022, and it won! Thousand of readers from around the world vote in that, so it was quite an honor.

I do believe an off-world Samurai biopunk weird Western qualifies.

Double thanks to Jane Noel, who illustrated and did the layout of The Illustrated Super Secrets of Writing workbook. Her excellence in her craft made my first book shine. Being awarded Best Author for the fourth year in a row is quite humbling--there have been some big names nominated in that category over the years, and I respect their work. But I am happy readers respect my work as both writer and as mentor to writers, and were moved to weigh in. Thank you. Some of you know the life struggles I've had to get here. So this one touches my heart.
I am most pleased about my first book--a workbook to help writers--winning this Best Nonfiction Book of the Year award. I put my heart and soul into its creation, and it's the culmination of years of helping struggling writers figure out their path to publication and writing success. Earning this award will increase its visibility, and that means other emerging writers will get help from its pages. That's been my mission for many years now. Back from Superstars Writing Seminar, and then flew to Utah the next day to teach Super Secrets masterclasses at the LTUE symposium. Whew!
I had a great time gathering with many from the Wulf Pack--around twenty of us at Superstars! Wild fun playing D&D with the Pack on Game Night! There just happened to be wolves captured by goblins in this module, which we charmed and had them run with us in battle. Pack Attack bonus for the win! In half the stated time!
