Has anyone here tried using AI writing tools? I’ve been exploring a few recently, like Quetext for checking originality and AI detection, and Grammarly for polishing grammar and style. These tools seem to be getting more advanced, but I’m curious about how effective people find them in real writing situations. Do you think they genuinely help improve writing, or do they sometimes make it feel less authentic? I’d love to hear your experiences and opinions on which tools are worth using.
Nope, I avoid them like the plague.
Although, I have used the free basic Grammarly plug-in for MS Word. I helps find misspelled a words or forgot a period, but it isn't very smart (keeps trying to shove commas in where they shouldn't be). Sticking with standard MS Word spell checker seems the best way to go.

@toddjones But there will be few or maybe many students who use AI tools to write whole assignments and I have tried them. Manually it is almost impossible for us to understand difference from a human written assignment.
That is scary.

Since AI cannot generate thoughts, ideas, and writings on its own (it simply pulls bits and pieces from other works already in existence out on the internet), this is a very devious form of plagiarism in my humble opinion. It's not something I would ever use. Then again, I also recognize that "kids today" are guided by a different set of moral compasses from my own. To each his own, but I still consider AI to be a precursor to Skynet's T-800, and I ain't helping that thing get any smarter.
