WHO:  Past Ad Astra Guest of Honor, international bestselling author and Writers of the Future Contest judge, Robert J. Sawyer (Quantum Night), Ad Astra Guest of Honor Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn Series), along with past Canadian Contest winners James Alan Gardner, Tony Pi and Stephen Kotowych will be on hand this weekend at the Ad Astra Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention in Toronto.

If you look back at the era when I was submitting, Pat Rothfus and I, we are some of the biggest fantasy writers of our generation to break in, and we were both submitting to Writers of the Future. —Brandon Sanderson

When I was approached to be a judge for Writers of the Future, I had only to look at the names of the other judges to know that this was a group that I wanted to be part of. —Robert J. Sawyer

WHAT: How Writers of the Future helped them break into the industry as professional writers.  And specifically how it can provide that much needed support to make it not only as a Canadian writer, but also on the international stage as a writer of science fiction or fantasy.  They will also announce and celebrate the release of L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 33 in Canada.

WHY:  To provide a means for the aspiring Canadian writer or artist to have a chance for their creative efforts to be heard by industry professionals by providing needed inspiration as well as nuts and bolts on how to go about doing it.
