I can’t believe I got the silver honourable mention! I’m thrilled to be a part of this contest! Thank you so much for the opportunity!

How many entries did you recieve in total?

Congratulations, Ameera! This is very well done to you. We don’t give out actual numbers of entries. But as a general number, we receive thousands of entries every quarter. So this really is quite an achievement. I hope you continue submitting. One of the winners this quarter received four finalists before winning. She had been submitting for several years. You can see her post on FB.

John Goodwin, Even though I understand that you can’t actually give out the total entries per quarter, it’s a shame that you are not able to. I have noticed though, that many entrants have asked the same question and rightfully so. I think that most of us want to know what kind of competition we are up against when entering at least in numbers if not in terms of actual talent. Just a thought.

Hello Jose, You have observed this is not a new question directed to me. I will say that between both Contests, the Writer and Illustrator, we receive thousands of entries each quarter. The Honorable Mentions are roughly 10% of the entries. This percentage increased considerably from just a few percent when we released the free Writers of the Future Online Workshop 4-5 years ago. Entry numbers vary quarter to quarter, with the 4th quarter being the biggest at the end of the year.
Many writers who win an Honorable Mention are able to successfully use this fact in their author bios. I see press releases almost once every few weeks noting this fact.
      I hope this helps!

I’m not sure why my name doesn’t appear in the list when you just sent me an email congratulating me on my Honorable Mention. Regardless, thanks for the mention! You’ll probably be seeing more of my work at some point.
