As expected RWC for me. I already know which comment applies. Failure to launch.

Looking forward to seeing everyone elses

Don't let it get you down. I'm in the same boat with an R, but at least you understand why.

RWC for me which was what I was expecting so I'm not too bummed about it

Sorry to hear/read that. Keep writing and try new things.

How'd you know it was an RWC?

I received an R, I think with "Here are the most common reasons:" and a list.

I got a thank you for entering your story did not place message from Joni. I sure miss the simple times when I got a solid R.

Hold your chin up high, you're writing and that's a great thing.

Sorry to hear/read on the R.

HM for my Q1 story. Yay, I broke my Q1 RWC curse...

Congrats on the HM.

I'm glad to see you discovered even curses can be broken with determination and a good tale.

Third submission is in! "Third time's a charm" is an immutable axiom that guarantees a win on your third attempt, right? I choose to believe so.

Looks like the third sub is NOT a guaranteed win. I’ll have to reevaluate my science on that.

The upcoming Q2 sub marks my one-year anniversary of subbing here. Looking forward to seeing what the road ahead holds!

hm

Congrats on the HM and hitting the anniversary mark.  Keep up the good work.

This was going to be my final rewrite of one of my earlier stories ... I thought I tightened up and clarified the story, but it looks like I was right to be concerned.  rejection

I know it hurts, sorry to hear/read.

I've been told to stop editing old stories and write new stuff.

I'm going to follow that advice and Q1 is my last resubmit.

How'd you know it was an RWC?

I received an R, I think with "Here are the most common reasons:" and a list.

@toddjones you actually got an RWC. The list of common reasons is the "with comments" part of the RWC

I've seen people list non-finalist certificates as low as honorable mention as accepted there.  Not my definition of the term, but whatever....

@pdblake

I noticed that as well. I don't think winners have been announced yet. There were also some 'personal' rejections. What level of rejection would be considered a personal rejection?

Someone conceivably could have earned a semi-finalist position and logged that in anticipation of the critique that will follow.

@chwalter Given how many there are, I think some people count HM or SHM as personalized rejections. Personally, I count those as form rejections and would only consider SF feedback personal.

@sandy I think only semi finalists get feedback. So anything else is just a form.

I agree. HM, SHM and SF are rejections. They are form rejections, but someone read through them enough times (could be slush and higher) to grade them. Kind-of a gray area and I could lean toward the side of higher than form rejection.

SF gets personal feedback and can't be resubmitted so that is firmly in the personalized rejection.

I count anything above a straight rejection as personal. A RWC is a form letter yes, but not everyone gets those, so that's personal. An HM means you made it past the first round. That's personal, IMHO.
