(We don’t talk about my second novel)
You gave me a chuckle with this line. I'm very carefully not talking about your second novel...
My first novel is about 3/4 done at 80K words, moving rapidly toward completion.

Rebecca, that's too much!
I think we all have a novel like that. I have two.

Strangely enough Chef, I was wondering that yesterday. I checked the earliest file- I started it late March, last year.
Definitely due for completion.

Lol. I have a short novel like that. I don’t have the heart to kill it. I wrote it before I learned to write, so it is crude, but it is the beating heart of me coming to terms who I am and as a result a component of my healing process.

Stumbles into the blanket fort. No one is there. It's quiet and dark. I look at the calendar, still July. Too early for twitching. I set off to work on my Q4 story which I seem to be driving to for some reason. Oh well, that's what the KYD exercise is all about, to help us begin stories at the right place.

@craydimensional Forgive me, I’m new to this forum and WOTF. What exactly does this comment mean?
A return is a rejection
There are rumors that WoTF releases results on Thursday but everyday is a Thursday.
Resinick is another new author contest that I entered that released their rejections today.
I thought it was ironic since it is a Thursday.

It's all very mysterious now, too, as prior circumstances may not apply, your mileage may vary, and so on. Which Thursday? Anybody's guess. Could be sneaking up on you right now, waiting to thwack you over the head with its Thursday-stick.
Of course, it could be a phantom-cloaked Thursday waiting to thwack you over the head with a Friday-stick instead. And I suspect it'll feel very similar.

@doctorjest What if it’s really a Monday stick?
You pass Thursday, and assume it’s gonna be Friday, but no. You know it isn’t going to be the weekend, so you drop your guard waiting for next Thursday.
Then Monday hits . . . .
Schrodinger's Mailbox is a thought experiment predicting that all results come on Thursday.
Before opening mail, it might be Thursday and it might not. But once the mailbox is opened and a result is found, daily wavefronts collapse and it is Thursday. The act of observing the result makes Thursday happen.
Pretty simple stuff when you dismiss reality and, hey, that's what we do.
Happy writing.

...and I just got notice that one of my stories has advanced to SemiFinalist stage in the Royal Palm Literary Awards. That contest is much slower than WotF, with submissions due in March and final awards in October at the Florida Writers Association convention.

Thanks, Victoria. An RPLA win would be a good feather in the cap. There's still a couple of steps more to get there, though! The sieve for semifinalist is pretty coarse; finalist is tighter; and then only three get the awards.

@lambenttyto results come when they come. Your guess is as good as anyone else's. Sometimes we get an update about when to start twitching in earnest. So far, we haven't got that signal. Try not to twitch, yet.
