I left Grammarly and switched over to ProWritingAid. Just as good, and no AI training wheels!
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have used Grammarly before for basic mispelling/typos and tense with the MS Office free plug-in and it seems to work well.
I just looked up ProWritingAid, which says its an AI-powered tools.
I'm concerned that it helps more than just with grammar and will suggest new sentences structure and add sensory details. At least that is what its marketing site says it can do.
I'll give it a deeper dive review this weekend.

Argh. I suggest never reading your manuscript after you submit. Found 2 grammar errors so far.
I don't know if this is good or bad, but by the time I submit I'm often at the point that I never ever want to look at my manuscript again, so there is no temptation.
I agree. I'm so burned out reading and rereading the story I just want it to go away. Drains the fun out for me. But then after a few weeks I get excited about the story again.

@toddjones In regards to ProWritingAid, the AI tools are just a few extra features that they've added over the past 6 months or so. I've never used those and don't intend to. I just use a few of the standard reports and the main one "Start Realtime" that PWA has had for many years. My understanding is these would've been developed through standard programming of grammar rules, a dictionary, and machine-learning. Just a guess though. I purchased the Lifetime licence 3 years ago in a Black Friday deal at 50% off.

@pmg I'll look for the black Friday sale this year.
I did the lifetime (all language) subscription to Babbel in 2021 on a black Friday sale. Great deal, now I just need time to re-learn Deutsch (took it in college) and always wanted to learn Spanish. Maybe French too. Who am I kidding, it'll be used as much as my gym equipment.
At least I would get some use out of ProWritingAid. haha

Hi Dustin! Hope you are doing well. Ok, so I know that the Q3 deadline has already passed and that the judges are probably in the middle of judging, so it may be a bit early to find out about anything-BUT have you heard anything yet about Q3 results, rumors, "low grumblings" in back alleys ?...etc. ?
@jose77sanchez last year the writer's general results email went out 9/14/23 if that gives you a general idea of timeframe
cheers, and good luck

I don't have any insider info. That's why I stop by here so often, to see what's going on!
I understand. Well, if you just read my and Gideon's comments, you could theoretically extrapolate that maybe and almost very closely- judging overall averages about 2.5-3 months. Not an EXACT rule- but really darn close we would say ! 😉

Q4 is nearly upon us. Any word on when Q3 results might start rolling in?
Real Soon Now. Jody intended to finish her part before DragonCon. Then it’s up to the quarter judges (who may also be tied up with cons).

Good news! Found my cat (she was missing for 54 days!), so now I can concentrate more and pound out a killer Q4 story. Still having other troubles, but but I've got one I'm working on that's going to be loads better than the whatever-it-was that I submitted for this quarter.
@shounenbat I'm so glad your cat is back home! I can imagine how impossible concentrating on anything, especially creative, was. Now if only the cat could tell you of her adventures, it might make a grand story!
@tiinag I remember leaving out an animal trap and putting cat food in it when my cat ran away. Seems she didn't wander far. We found out from vet later that she had a heart condition and ran away cause she was sick.
Small steps add up to miles.

I got a repeat of my Q2 email. As in, it says Q2 on it and is the same result.

Mine’s the same award as I received last quarter (different story), but my email does say Q3. I spoke to a couple other people who also received emails labeled Q2.

Give me a minute to see what is happening. The re-line says Q2 or the body of the email?
@jason For me, it's both. I've attached a screen snip.

I verified in the system that your Q3 is SHM! Not sure why the email didn't show correctly but I just confirmed. Congrats.
Hmmm I'm so confused. I haven't received a rejection before so it could be that, but the email I received just says I didn't win, there's no info about what I actually got, as in a rejection, or disqualification. Is that the standard rejection letter?

Sorry, yes that is a rejection letter. Just confirmed in the system. Sorry about that but good luck with your next story!
Okay, my Q3 just came through as well. HM for this one.

Just to clarify you got this email today on the 2nd Quarter? I still can't figure out exactly what happened but looks like the system decided Q2 needed to be sent out again along with Q3. Users watch out for this.
