@pdblake Nope. I don't remember previous years, but with all the business of putting out the book and organizing the gala I wouldn't be surprised if they take a couple months longer than other quarters.

Almost like magic, my first SHM arrived today Christmas Eve. Sorry I can't post a picture, since it is lovely. In my eagerness to submit form to get it, I had it made out to my real name instead of my pen name. It's kinda nice to see my own name on the certificate though. Thank you Joni.

@craydimensional that's awesome.
“Stories are the collective wisdom of everyone who has ever lived. Your job as a storyteller is not simply to entertain. Nor is it to be noticed for the way your turn a phrase. You have a very important job—one of the most important. Your job is to let people know that everyone shares their feelings—and that these feelings bind us. Your job is a healing art, and like all healers, you have a responsibility. Let people know they are not alone. You must make people understand that we are all the same.”

That is awesome that you can write and draw. It comes from the same side of the brain, but having the eye for depth and steady hand is a talent I can't master.

😉 Thanks Todd. For me, writing and drawing both capture me entirely and I forget about time. As for drawing "talent", I'm benefitting from the hours I spent many days of my childhood on into present day dabbling with art supplies. My parents were very generous with paper and such for my art play.

A little self-indulgent, but to celebrate finally breaking into silver I jazzed up my SHM a little. (Cheers, Maryland, for giving me clouds in the sky almost every day of the year except the one time I want them for a photo...)

It's a worthy celebration! I had my first SHM framed for quite a while, and variously sitting next to my writing desk or on top of the shelf in my writing corner, depending on which year you happened to pick. I never did anything so fancy as taking it for a walk, though!

So my first entry, for Q4, 2022, earned an HM, which I'm totally pumped about (it was my first short story!)
I had a piece for Q1, 2023, but couldn't finish it, but it looks like I'll have time to get it in for Q2 anyway 😉
I do have a question about certificates - I wasn't expecting anything, but i've seen a couple people mention them - should I be expecting to receive something in the mail? or email? for an HM? or is it just SHM and above?
@michaelvaliant welcomed to the forum! Congratulations on your first HM. Yes Joni sends out and email notification each quarter once the judging is done and there is a form you have to fill out if you want a certificate mailed to you. We send out forms for HM and above, so your eligible to get one.
If for some reason you didn't get the email and form you are welcome to reach out to Joni and we can possibly include it in the next round, but I can't promises anything, but that is probably your best bet. It is important to make sure in the WizeHive submission system your profile email is correct as that is what the winning notification emails from Joni get sent out to.
Good luck with your next one!!!!
@michaelvaliant welcome to the forum, and congratulations on receiving an HM! Best of luck with your Q2, and if you have not already done so, check out the free online writing workshop - it's brilliant.

@michaelvaliant Welcome. Congrats on the HM. Hang there certificate on a wall where you write for inspiration. It is no small feat to get an HM in WotF's international contest.
