Hi everyone!

It's been awhile since I came to the WOTF forum - so long, in fact, that I couldn't find my old username or password. Alas, I had to start again with a new account and everything!

To introduce myself: my name is Zack Be and I am a WOTF winner from Vol. 36 (story: "As Able the Air"). My fiction has also appeared or is forthcoming in venues such as Asimov's and Analog, and I was a finalist this year for the Jim Baen Memorial SF Award. I used to come on the forum regularly before my win in 2020 and always enjoyed the conversations about the contest and the craft of writing. It was very helpful to my development, and now it is time to give back!

This is why I am posting today: I am the editor of the forthcoming collection Inner Workings: A Calendar of Fools AnthologyThis book features 16 science fiction and fantasy stories + 16 craft essays by each author exploring the elements of effective fiction. 12 of the stories are original pieces by the Calendar of Fools authors - a writing collective made entirely of WOTF winners - and the other 4 stories/ essays come from our esteemed guest authors and WOTF alums: Martin L. Shoemaker, Kary English, Wulf Moon, and Eric James Stone! The purpose of the anthology is to entertain while also helping to promote excellent writing craft in genre fiction and beyond. Reading stories and then getting the author's insight into their process is a unique experience and I believe those who read through Inner Workings will find many nuggets of writing craft wisdom to help them expand their skills!

We have just 3 days left in our Kickstarter, and thankfully, we are already 215% funded! If we get a few more backers we will be able to hit our last stretch goal, which gets us another essay by the one and only Kevin J. Anderson, one of the WOTF judges and teachers at WOTF and Super Stars. So, to keep a long story long, be sure to back the project before it is too late and secure your copy of this awesome collection!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I thought Storm's explanation of your Kickstarter on the WOTF Podcast was great, but listened on my drive to work and forgot to pledge once I wasn't driving, so thanks for the reminder! Eagerly looking forward to it!

I'm in with my pledge. I'm familiar with several of the authors in your 'line up' and I'm looking forward to their stories. Plus their ESSAYS may be invaluable.

Really looking forward to this one.
