2000 • Volume 16

The Awards event was held on Friday, September 15, 2000, in Hollywood, California, at the L. Ron Hubbard Gallery. The writers’ and illustrators’ workshops were again held at the excellent facilities of Author Services, Inc. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts to longtime judge and SF legend Frederik Pohl.

Also, with fifteen full years of the anthology to draw from, Galaxy Press released the Best of Writers of the Future, with stories and essays selected as the “best of the best” from the Contest. Many of the original winner contributors to the Best of volume were present at the Awards event as the new book was released.
