Q4 tends to be the shortest wait. Unless you're Gideon in which case you've already been waiting three months.

The shortest wait huh? I wonder what the reason behind that is 🤔 Jury wants to be done for the holidays? Fewer contestants due to the summer?

The volume has to get edited and sent to the printers. They need time to do that so they have to turn things around quick at the end of the volume series (q4).
Conversely Q1 is often longest I think because they are involved in doing the gala right around when results would come out and thats a lot of planning and work.

@pmg I wonder if Martin's stroke will affect that. They did not have as many slush readers this quarter.
I'm kinda sucked into my qtr1 entry right now, so I can use a week or so without twitching.

@pmg While he isn't done with recovery, Martin has worked so hard and had been a beast at doing what he needs to get back to good health. I've been so impressed watching him tackle this.

I have not even been thinking about this, but suddenly I am a bit twitchy. Trying to remind myself that I don’t even want to win, because then I’d never get to write my Q1 entry.
…
I don’t quite believe me.
@m-norris You want to win. Then, you still write the story you had in mind for Q1 and sell it to a pro market.

@craydimensional I've been twitching. I think it's because I've never had a story that meant more to me before. This story was my heart bleeding in ink.
@annmarieinlr I hope it wins. Crossing my fingers for you. This one is a hail mary for me but the one I am working on is my favorite,

@wahlquistj {{ hug }} Emotional stories are hard, but generally worth it.
Super excited for this one. It's definitely one of my better stories, written in a more literary style than my usual. I got good feedback on it and hope they liked it!

Shhh, don’t tell me that.
I too wrote a more emotional story, though not in the way most of you probably did. It was a deep one, if you can spot the symbolism. And honestly, even just an HM to show me I’m improving as a writer would be a huge win here. My highest WotF results so far have been RWC.
I usually submit grim and dark. 4th quarter, I wrote humor. I started laughing while I wrote it, and figured maybe that was a good sign
@m-norris For your next quarter (if you don't win), send it my way. I'm happy to give it a critique.
